Status Invades

Hey, loves! My "Status Invades" style feature is finally out (this is the outcome of the photo shoot I mentioned HERE)! I'm so thrilled and honored to be on one of the pages of Status magazine! We're Alright

If you attended the Bloggers United Bazaar Part 5 last Saturday and have been religiously following my Instagram posts (lol), then you've definitely seen me trotting around in this almost all-black ensemble. This look was a product of a semi-functioning brain (due to lack of sleep) and was a last minute decision. I was too engrossed with my preparations for the bazaar that I've completely abandoned coming up with a decent outfit for the event. So yes, I had to resort to my default black attire (which I actually sorely missed sporting). All of the pieces in this look have been recycled. I've already worn the mesh top (similar HERE) with my favorite origami skort and have paired my Balenciaga-ish diaper shorts with an improvised bandeau and a sheer floral top. 

On a similar note, BU5 was defnitely a huge success and this would not have been possible if not for the amazing supporters of our respective blogs and the hardworking team behind the event (Pax, Ana and the rest of the gang). To everyone who dropped by our booth to shop, say 'hello' and have their photos taken with us...thank you so so so much! Your excited smiles and energy were enough to assuage the stress and exhaustion I've been experiencing for days. Thank you as well for the kind words posted on Twitter and Instagram. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again in the next BUB!

Preview Style Profile Feature

The secret I've been keeping to myself for months is finally out! I'm so proud and excited to share with you my Style Profile feature for the May issue of Preview magazine. Can I get a slow clap? Haha! Seriously though, I'm truly honored and am very thankful to the Preview team for giving me another opportunity to grace the pages of their magazine (my very first feature in Preview was in 2010, with fellow fashion bloggers, Lissa, Rosanna and Hannah). I want to acknowledge and express my gratitude to Karen Bolilia, Preview's Editorial Assistant, for working on this feature and for being so gracious in "lending" us her beautiful home to serve as the backdrop for the photos. I'll be sharing with you the hi-res outfit layouts in a different post but for now, I leave you with small snapshots of the Style Profile article. Another Dimension New Galaxy, Intergalactic Planetary!

I remember going through a "printed leggings phase" last year (as seen HERE and HERE). Apparently, the appeal of this type of leggings hasn't worn out on me yet. Printed pieces call for minimal accessories, hence the simple ear studs, a solitary spiked cuff and a swag pair of round mirrored sunglasses. On a different note, I feel so refreshed from the one-day holiday yesterday (all thanks to our local heroes). Killed the alarm clock, took a long snooze and woke up to have my nails done and decompress. How did you spend the holiday?

Shark Attack

Black and blue tones for the 1st day of Bloggers United Bazaar 4. Since I couldn't justify spending on a ludicrously-priced genuine Givenchy shark sweater, I conveniently settled for this dupe option from Romwe. It has the same rugged feel and matches my cotton-and-leather combo skirt perfectly. The Zara cowboy boots, which I purchased using my GCASH American Express Virtual Card, was a last-minute choice but I reckon it still goes well with the dark and edgy look I was going for (and which I terribly missed sporting).

My 1st day for BU4 at the World Bazaar Festival was a blast. Although I came in terribly late, I managed to sell quite a load of items (Thank you to everyone who purchased items from our booth! Virtual kisses to all of you!). My favorite part about the bazaar? Meeting and chatting with my readers and goofing around with fellow blogger friends...priceless! Goth Nomad Part Two

I completely forgot to post this set of photos from my Goth Nomad shoot with Anton 5 months ago (my hair was still long and basting in ombre dye). These are actually my favorites from the bunch. And this is how I would style the Paradigm Shift 'Ornithopter' dress to make it more wearable during the day -- I'll just slap on a mean leather jacket and wear a pair of moto boots. Damn. Looking at these photos makes me miss my all-black-ensemble days circa 2008-2009. I think it's time to bring back the edgy again.

Neon at Night

This night time shot of the neon outfit I wore to the Preview Best Dressed Ball deserves its own post. I just love the drama attributed to the lighting and the whole composition of the photo.

Highlighter Yellow

It was my first time attending a Preview Best Dressed Ball this year and I wonder why I haven't gone to previous ones before (*knocks myself on the head*). The event was so much fun and I had such a good time shaking my bonbons to nostalgic dance songs, together with my blogger friends (you know who you are!).

The theme for this year's Ball was athletic chic. Needless to say, I got really excited the first time I got wind of the theme because I adore sportswear...a lot! I originally wanted to have a pair of track shorts and jacket customized but due to time constraints, I had to settle with whatever I could find in my closet that could fit in with the theme. The first look that I had in mind was a combination of a floral bomber jacket + peplum top + hot shorts. However, the actual look didn't translate well to how I was envisioning it so I had to scrap the whole ensemble. I ended up turning to this neon dress which has been hanging inside my closet for months. It had this neoprene-like material which reminded me of a scuba-diving suit. The dress could very well pass off as a trendy tennis wear as well (although I highly doubt that a pro tennis player can move around a lot in it).

Congratulations to Preview and to all of the Best Dress honorees this year! Looking forward to next year's Best Dressed Ball!

Cascading

I got to transform myself into a dapper girl of the '20s during the Miss World Philippines coronation night last Sunday (I had to attend said event for work). Makeup artist and hairstylist, Camille Regala, helped me achieve the wavy hair that I wanted to complement the cascading ruffles on my dress. For the makeup, we went with a simple gold smokey eye and nude lip look. I felt so regal after changing into my dress and seeing the overall look with 1920's-inspired hair and makeup on. It felt good to look like a proper lady for a change. Haha! To be honest (and candid), I got a bit restless days before the event, stressing myself on finding an appropriate long dress. I didn't want to waste money on a designer dress that I know I will only get to wear once or twice. Fortunately, I found this lovely eggplant-colored dress in a local retail store. The dress may have been constructed from  basic jersey and chiffon but the craftsmanship and fit made up for the materials' simplicity. And the good thing was, the price tag on the dress didn't burn a hole on my wallet. Thank goodness.

The Miss World Philippines 2012 pageant was the first "beauty pageant" I've ever attended. I thought I wasn't going to enjoy it but surprisingly, I did. I had my beauty favorites and I was so pleased that all of them made it to the Top 5. I don't mind attending another beauty pageant event in the future. Just give me enough time to prepare a look please. Haha!

Crushed Velvet

What I wore to the much-anticipated and highly successful Bloggers United Bazaar 3 last Saturday. This look was something I came up with at the last minute. I was quite dead tired from work the day before the bazaar and I woke up an hour late on the day of the event itself! I had to scramble to organize all of the items I was planning to sell and had no more time to choose and test an outfit on. Thank goodness this crushed velvet bell bottoms presented itself at a moment of need. I've had this pair of pants for quite a while now but I never got round to wearing it. I guess it was waiting for the right occasion to be worn...and the Bloggers United Bazaar was the perfect event to have its own "moment". For the most part of the bazaar, I was entertaining shoppers and guests sans the jacket (it was just too darn hot inside the venue because of the influx of people), so I apologize to all of those who saw my almost naked back. Haha! To all of the readers, shoppers and friends who dropped by our booth and gave their time to say their "hellos" and have their photos taken with me, THANK YOU! You lot are the greatest and you really made my day.

Goth Nomad

As promised, here are the photos from the collabo shoot I had with Anton. Anton currently dabbles in street photography, taking photos of friends and of random breathing souls. I'm not sure if this shoot was his first themed one, but I sure did enjoy doing it with him. It's nice to break away from "outfit" posts once in a while. It's also great to be in the company of people who share the same interests and vision as I do, moreso if they all reside in the same area as where I live (cheers to the South, baby!). When Anton and I were discussing the theme for this shoot, I knew in my head that I wanted to wear this Ornithopter dress from Paradigm Shift. It's such a simple piece but has a tough and sultry whimsy to it. It sure hell looks good with the Drei wedges from Gold Dot too. Now, if this look doesn't project a "Don't you dare mess with me!" 'tude, I don't know what else will.
