Say Something...

Jacket: Romwe / Dress, Boots & Hat: Zara / Bag: Alexander Wang

Gaaahhh...I still can't shake off the fact that I was able to see The Killers perform in the flesh! And I've got SM Accessories to thank for! Being a few hundreds of bodies away from Brandon Flowers and the whole band was a surreal and thrilling experience. The Killers were such great performers and they really sounded amazing live. But before I go frantically on an on about how freakin' awesome the band was, can we take a second to talk about my concert OOTD? Yes? My go-to ensemble for any music-related event would have to be a tank top (cropped top or muscle tee) paired with shorts and boots (it's all about comfort-dressing) but I decided to deviate from this combo and went with a floral slip dress -- very 90's grunge when styled with a studded leather wraparound piece but still concert-appropriate and perfect to jump and move around in.

Expect to see photos from the concert in a separate post soon!

Re-create this look with these pieces:

P.S. I seriously need to work on those jello arms of mine. Those thick arms are the result of being an exercise-sloth for more than 10 years. I haven't stepped on the gym nor jogged more than 2 blocks since College. And look where that has gotten me now. Tsk, tsk, Kookie.

Boxy & Cropped

Thursday, June 6, 2013

Ack! I was supposed to share these hi-res photo set from my Preview 'Style Profile' (for the May '13 issue) feature weeks ago but my brain went on hibernation mode. Please forgive me. This is definitely a tell-tale sign of aging. Haha! But moving on...all of these looks revolved around one summer du jour piece: a boxy and cropped top (which I wasn't prepared to bare my abs, or lack thereof, for) designed by local fashion designer, Sassa Jimenez. The considerations I had when I was thinking through the different looks that I had to come up with for this piece were: 1) I had to showcase the top in all of its glory, 2) I had to infuse a bit of layering in the styling and 3) I had to integrate my signature edgy style in the mix...and in true Kookie fashion, this means going for a grunge or all-black mood. The first look in this set is actually a wild card. I took a chance and went with a "sweet" look by pairing the cropped top with an ultra-feminine dress. I  prepared 6 looks all in all, two of which didn't make the cut.

Here they are:

OUTFIT DETAILS: (1st Look) Dress: Topshop / Shoes: Mango; (2nd look) Leather Trousers: Pixiemarket / Shoes: Stella McCartney (black version HERE); (3rd Look) White Button Down: Romwe / Trousers: Marni x H&M (similar HERE); (4th Look) Plaid Top: Folded & Hung / Shoes & Bag: Alexander Wang; (5th Look) Pants: Romwe / Shoes: Stella McCartney / Earrings: ASOS / (6th Look) Skirt: ASOS / Peplum Belt: The Ramp / Shoes: Zara / Earrings: F21

Which look is your favorite? Let me know! :)

Shirt: Sheinside / Jeggings: Wrangler / Heels: Mango / Earrings, Bangles & Clutch: SM Accessories

Last Thursday night, I attended the launch party for the Head & Shoulders Volcanoes rugby team (there are a lot of eye candies in this team, ladies! Haha!). Since it was a casual event, I opted for a clean, simple but streamlined look. I turned to my favorite jeans (or jeggings) from Wrangler and paired it with a lightweight striped top from Sheinside (I can already envision myself wearing this with a pair of leather shorts for summer) and some modest heels (which I haven't worn for a long time!). Kept my accessories to a minimum and just went with a foldover clutch and a few pieces of jewelry.

Wall Art

Denim Shirt: Wrangler / Skort & Shoes: Zara / Bag: Alexander Wang / Necklace: Romwe / Eyewear: SM Accessories

My favorite denim shirt makes another appearance. My sole excuse for incessantly reusing this shirt? It just goes with everything (see how I wore it HERE, HERE and HERE). And its lightweight fabric makes it manageable to wear even during the driest of dry days. Wore this ensemble to the launch of Wrangler's Denim Spa jeans -- jeans that can moisturize and smoothen your legs. Amazing, right? I'm definitely getting a pair and I suggest you get a pair (or two) too because the stocks for these Denim Spa jeans are limited!

P.S. How gorgeous is the wall art behind me? I spotted this while inside a cab, on the way back to our office. I'm such a sucker for female-themed artworks and this colorful graffiti served as a nice backdrop for my simple outfit. Kudos to the artist who created this obra.

Skirt: The Ramp / Jacket: Mango / Top: Romwe / Shoes: Alexander Wang / Eyewear & Earrings: SM Accessories / Bag: Neon Island

I'm letting the blogger-favorite-Zara skort rest for a while I put the spotlight on this Cameo The Label-inspired printed origami skirt from The Ramp. Love the playful mix of fabrics here and the unique waistband detail. Creativity ditched me as I was fumbling around on how to style this skirt so I had to resort to my tried-and-tested button down polo and leather jacket combo. It hasn't failed me yet. This look was almost slightly devoid of color so I had to punch it up with this adorable bird-print clutch from Neon Island. It's so perfect for summer. :)

Busy Bee

Top: H&M / Pants: Zara / Shoes: Alexander Wang / Eyewear: Karen Walker / Earrings: ASOS / Clutch: SM Accessories

It's always a great feeling to find something you thought you've lost, ain't I right? That's why I was so glad when this perforated top decided to resurrect itself before it almost suffocated from the chaos that is my closet. There's nothing really mind-blowing about this look (it's just really a top + jeans combo) save for the golden bee perched on my ears. Insect baubles are always welcome in my imaginary armoire.

Like Second Skin

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Jeggings: Wrangler / Robe: Vanilla Label / Pumps: Stella McCartney / Necklace: SM Accessories

These Abby jean leggings ("jeggings") from Wrangler are a gem! I'm obsessed with them! Unlike most jeggings (which are made of cheap material), these Abby leggings are made of high quality denim and they fit like second skin (think super skinny jeans with the extra stretch). For these jeans' debut, I opted to pair it with my overused and abused zebra-print robe (wore these a million times already! as seen here, here, here & here). Expect to see these jeggings in more posts!

P.S. Have a blessed Holy Week, everyone! How are you going to spend your Holy Week?

Beautiful Monsters

Friday, March 22, 2013

Jacket & Top: Forever 21 / Shoes: Gold Dot / Mirrored Sunglasses: ASOS / Necklace & Bracelet: SM Accessories

These towering Honey platforms from Gold Dot are my newest pair of beautiful monsters. They have this funky neon green acrylic surprise and the perfect beige-black upper color combination which I love. There's some bit of an S&M action going on too with the ankle chain. Sick!

You can get these from Gold Dot, Karmaloop and Solestruck.

Foliage

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Dress: Charina Sarte / Heels: Zara / Earrings: Satine / Bag: SM Accessories

Wore this gorgeous foliage-print dress to the red carpet premiere of "Must Be Love" -- a movie that is so dear to my heart. "Must Be Love", which is top-billed by Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla (my favorite teen on-screen "love team"), is a movie about love, relationships and transformations. While I'm not a fan of Pinoy movies, I can truly say that this movie is worth watching. The dialogues are witty and the story is something most of us, if not all, can relate to. If you want a light movie that will keep you amused and feeling "kinikilig" the whole time, I suggest you watch "Must Be Love". It's now airing in over 100 cinemas nationwide.

Cosmic Stripes

Top: Posh Wardrobe / Skirt & Peplum Belt: The Ramp / Shoes: Stella McCartney / Eyewear: Karen Walker / Bag: SM Accessories

I'm not a big risk-taker when it comes to prints. I'm not like other fashion femmes who can pull off a print-on-print (on-print) look with ease. When it comes to pairing prints with prints, I always have to have a block of solid color on and I only allow myself to wear two different prints at a time. It's a weird formula but its my safest bet to avoid looking like an absurd-looking walking graphic billboard.

Mirrored

Friday, March 8, 2013

Top: ASOS / Shoes: Alexander Wang / Bag & Necklace: SM Accessories / Eyewear: Glam Effect

It's the return of the comeback! Hahaha! Hello, abstract print top! I obviously love this top so much for it to merit an immediate second appearance on this blog (wore it for the first time HERE). This time though, I opted to pair it with shorts since summer's already here and it's just too hot to wear long sleeves with pants! Ugh. I want to direct your attention though to the mirrored sunglasses. Isn't it the coolest thang? Haha! The blue polarized lenses remind me of all things summer - beach, waves, sand and fun! Sigh. Can't wait to go back to the beach!

P.S. My face looks so white in these photos! Hahaha!
