Boxy & Cropped
Thursday, June 6, 2013
Ack! I was supposed to share these hi-res photo set from my Preview 'Style Profile' (for the May '13 issue) feature weeks ago but my brain went on hibernation mode. Please forgive me. This is definitely a tell-tale sign of aging. Haha! But moving on...all of these looks revolved around one summer du jour piece: a boxy and cropped top (which I wasn't prepared to bare my abs, or lack thereof, for) designed by local fashion designer, Sassa Jimenez. The considerations I had when I was thinking through the different looks that I had to come up with for this piece were: 1) I had to showcase the top in all of its glory, 2) I had to infuse a bit of layering in the styling and 3) I had to integrate my signature edgy style in the mix...and in true Kookie fashion, this means going for a grunge or all-black mood. The first look in this set is actually a wild card. I took a chance and went with a "sweet" look by pairing the cropped top with an ultra-feminine dress. I prepared 6 looks all in all, two of which didn't make the cut.
Here they are:
OUTFIT DETAILS: (1st Look) Dress: Topshop / Shoes: Mango; (2nd look) Leather Trousers: Pixiemarket / Shoes: Stella McCartney (black version HERE); (3rd Look) White Button Down: Romwe / Trousers: Marni x H&M (similar HERE); (4th Look) Plaid Top: Folded & Hung / Shoes & Bag: Alexander Wang; (5th Look) Pants: Romwe / Shoes: Stella McCartney / Earrings: ASOS / (6th Look) Skirt: ASOS / Peplum Belt: The Ramp / Shoes: Zara / Earrings: F21
Which look is your favorite? Let me know! :)

If you've been following me on Instagram, your IG feed would've probably been inundated with photos of my crazy awesome Wanderland Music & Arts Festival experience over the weekend. For a first-ever legit, quality music fest, Wanderland did not disappoint. Their band lineup turned me into a panicky and desperate beaver, scouring my social media network for tickets up until the very last minute. Obviously, we all know I got my happy ending. This uber casual cropped top + distressed denim outfit was the best I could cook up for Wanderland, even if I knew that it's a cookie cutter ensemble that would get lost in a sea of girls clad in similar articles of clothing. And boy, was I right. The Wanderland field was teeming with hipster girls in their floral wreaths, tank top, boots and denim shorts. I even saw someone wearing a black cropped top and denim shorts with a shirt wrapped around her waist too. Yikes. Oh well. Next time, I'll make sure my outfit is different from 80% of the festival population. Haha.
I'll be posting my Wanderland photos in a separate entry so watch out for that. Happy Monday, y'all!

Top: Sheinside / Leather Shorts: The Ramp / Heels: Zara / Bag: Alexander Wang / Earrings: ASOS
Call me crazy but not even heatstroke nor copious amounts of sweat will stop me from wearing my beloved jumpers. Okay...maybe if I do experience fainting from a heatstroke, I might just change my mind. Haha. But in my defense, I was able to brave the heat and wear this cheeky statement sweater from Sheinside because strolling under the snarling sun wasn't part of the itinerary that day. Thank God. I actually wore this on a girlfriend's day-out with my good friend, Honey, and her sister, Shine. We spent half the day munching on fat-inducing treats (hello street food and steak!), shopping around for nifty gadget accessories and laughing our arses off over great, funny conversations. That was a fun day.
Now, I shall end the post with this:
"What the fuck???" Hahaha!

90's Baby
Monday, March 18, 2013
Top: ASOS / Skirt: Topshop / Plaid Shirt: Folded & Hung / Boots: Opening Ceremony x Chloe Sevigny / Bag: Alexander Wang
Even if I'm already in my 30's, I tend to gravitate towards 90's inspired fashion most of the time. Hey! I'm a 90's baby after all (born in the 80's but spent my seminal years in the 90's). Back in the 90's though, I didn't dress up like this. I was more into baggy shirts and trousers and denim jeans (spell t-o-m-b-o-y). It was only recently that I found myself liking everything about 90's fashion again, specifically grunge looks -- the plaid shirts, chunky boots, cropped tops and bandage skirts and the overall laid back, "i-don't-care-wachuthink" attitude that goes with it.
Here's to 90's y'all! It definitely ain't dead.
Mirrored

Top: ASOS / Shoes: Alexander Wang / Bag & Necklace: SM Accessories / Eyewear: Glam Effect
It's the return of the comeback! Hahaha! Hello, abstract print top! I obviously love this top so much for it to merit an immediate second appearance on this blog (wore it for the first time HERE). This time though, I opted to pair it with shorts since summer's already here and it's just too hot to wear long sleeves with pants! Ugh. I want to direct your attention though to the mirrored sunglasses. Isn't it the coolest thang? Haha! The blue polarized lenses remind me of all things summer - beach, waves, sand and fun! Sigh. Can't wait to go back to the beach!
P.S. My face looks so white in these photos! Hahaha!

Holo

Jeans: ASOS / Jacket: Bench / Boots: Zara / Earrings: SM Accessories
My obsession with hologram continues with this cool icy blue tone holo jeans that I snapped from ASOS. I've seen hologram on nail paints, shoes and bag...but on jeans??? Come on! How weirdly cool is that? I was actually hesistant on getting these pants for fear that they might end up looking too futuristic for my taste, but the moment I put them on and the sun brought out their beautiful rainbow speckles...well, I was in love!
Hope you all have a great week ahead!
Cut-Out

Jacket: Pinkaholic / Dress: ASOS / Boots: Zara / Clutch & Earrings: SM Accessories
Zara boots for the 100th time! Please don't shoot me! Hahaha! Anyhoo, let's move on to the whole look, shall we? A few more bodycon pieces are slowly making their way onto my closet once again. Jersey bodycon dresses, such as the one I'm wearing here, can be unforgiving on the body especially if you don't have a toned physique and the proper undergarments to back it up -- the slightest of bulges will reveal itself no matter how hard you try to hide them. I, for one, do not possess a kick-ass body but this doesn't mean that I can't wear a bodycon dress when I want to. If you're one of those who doesn't give a sh*t about what other people think, then by all means, don that body hugging dress! But if you're feeling a bit conscious about your body, just throw on a jacket (I've got my cool camo jacket on). It will help in concealing those side or tummy bulges.
Birds of Paradise

Jacket: Zara / Top, Skirt & Sunglasses: ASOS / Heels: Mango / Clutch: SM Accessories
Trying to experiment with more colors and prints than usual. Let's not play pretend here though -- we all know that I'm not that
adventurous when it comes to prints so forgive me if you find this busy floral
jacket and top combo strange. Well, at least in my eyes, this combo
worked! Haha! The top I'm wearing here is actually a bodysuit. The print on the suit is a mirrored image of a bird surrounded by birds-of-paradise flowers, hence the title (I'm clever, aren't I? Hahaha!). The most special piece in this whole look though, for me, is the skirt. I'm all for the use of mesh in a non-sex bombshell way (i.e. mesh to show the cleavage or mesh to cleverly conceal body parts which shouldn't be seen by the public). Expect to see more of this skirt in upcoming posts!
Gotta go now loves. Hope you're all doing great! Again, don't forget to follow me on Twitter (@kookiebuhain) for blog updates, musings and whatnots.
Boltin' Out
Saturday, October 6, 2012
Top: Binkydoodles / Jeans: Zara / Heels: Mango / Bag: Phillip Lim / Earrings & Cuff: SM Accessories
I'm going to keep this short and sweet as I need to bolt outta the door and enjoy my Saturday (Heyo, it's a weekend!). This is a pretty simple look - wore a pretty peplum top with simple jeans and heels (I got the blazer on stand by just in case it got chilly). Sometimes, this is just how I'd like to wear myself and my clothes -- no fuss, no complications.
Hope you guys have an awesome weekend ahead! Don't forget to follow me on Twitter (@kookiebuhain) for blog updates!
