Sweater Weather

Sweater & Boots: Zara / Bag: Alexander Wang / Hat: F21

This lovely grey Zara jumper had me at "hello" with its luxe knit material, turtleneck design and zippers. Since I'm a sucker for sweater dresses, I deliberately ordered this piece in the largest size available (but I had to wear shorts underneath, of course, to avoid mooning someone over!). I actually wore this ensemble to a special photo shoot session with talented young photographer, Bjorn Bedayo. The photo/s from this shoot will be part of Bjorn's #KalsadaPH project -- a photo documentation of Filipino street style from all over the Philippines (which will eventually be published into a book!). Props to Bjorn for coming up with this wonderful concept!

Watch out for the launch of Kalsada.PH in January 2014!

Music Sounds Better With You

Dress: Sway Chic / Bag & Shoes: Alexander Wang / Hat: Zara

During the past few months or so, the Filipinos have been privy to some of the greatest international music acts and hippest music festival-themed events (I've had my fair share of music fests such as the EMF, Summer Solstice and Wanderland). And for these type of events, I always skew my fashion choices to comfortable and laidback pieces which are either boho-gypsy-inspired or of the 90's scene. I've actually started to stock up on music fest-appropriate clothing. Case in point: this blue cut-out, tie-dyed beaute of a dress which I found online at Sway Chic. It's light and airy and the a-line hem is perfect for some swinging-to-the-beat action. In an actual festival, I would just probably swap the boots with a lower-heeled pair, but the signature 'Kookie hat' would remain atop my head.

I'm internally rejoicing in the thought that bigger and greater things are possibly about to emerge, music-wise, for the Philippines. I can just feel it in my gut. And I can't wait to see the day when my country finally becomes one of the celebrated music hubs (just like Japan for Fuji Rock, California for Coachella, Singapore for Laneway Festival, etc.) where everyone from all parts of the globe can converge whilst listening to great music.

Ain't Laurent Without Yves

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Skirt: Chicnova / Top: Medley Manila / Bag & Heels: Alexander Wang / Rings & Earrings: F21 / Bracelet: Accessorize / Eyewear: Cotton On

So here we are again with another wraparound situation. But instead of the usual plaid shirt and skirt combo, what we have here is a solo ingenious skirt with built-in arms, meant to be tied on the front (ala Phillip Lim). It's sports chic fashion and pragmatism all rolled into one. And the shirt? "Ain't Laurent without Yves"? Word.

Now I leave you guys with this, to perk your week up!

"Heeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyy, guuuuuurl..."

 Have a great week, y'all!

Top, Pants & Heels: Zara / Bag: Alexander Wang / Earrings: H&M / Eyewear: Cotton On

I'm not one to dabble on an extreme color burst of an outfit but this particular ensemble was an exception. The trousers and boxy sweater seemed to make the perfect pair after I tried them on during a recent Zara sale raid. I've been eyeing these two pieces since the new release of the Spring-Summer '13 collection and was so happy to find out that a few stocks were still available and were priced at 50% off at that.

It really pays to be patient.

If you're into jumpers in acid brights as well, check these out:

Barely There

Top: Sabrina / Shorts: Street Beat Boutique / Boots & Hat: Zara / Bag: Alexander Wang

"Less is more"...

...more skin that is. The ill-tempered heat has forced me to deal with clothing as if it were a kryptonite I'd rather get rid of. What a shame. Since I can't stomach the idea of parading on the streets naked, I've resorted to covering myself with as less cloth as possible (for the meantime that is), hence the barely-there but pretty Sabrina top and short short short denim shorts getup. Oh man, I used to look forward to the arrival of Summer while playing images of beaches and waves inside my head. Now, I'd rather get myself cooped up in the comfort of an airconditioned room and bore myself to death with channel surfing the whole day. That's how hot it is. It's cruel to be kind, Mother Nature.

Grunge & Gasoline

Bag: Alexander Wang / Boots: Zara / Plaid Shirt: Folded & Hung / Silver (Men's) Bracelets: SM Accessories

O-M-G! It's the return of the flannel shirt! Before you all throw daggers at me, let's just blame it on my infatuation for anything depicting 90's grunge, shall we? And let's consider this timely sartorial concoction as an homage to Coachella (which ended a few weeks ago). Yeah, yeah, I know. The Coachella topic is becoming pretty redundant. Everyone's talking about it, almost everyone wished they were in Palm Springs prancing around to good music while garbed in their own gypsy/rocker-inspired looks. Well, who can blame us denizens who are stationed from halfway across the globe and have only post-Coachella photos to ogle at?

Oh well. Coachella. Someday. Soon. I hope.

Wall Art

Denim Shirt: Wrangler / Skort & Shoes: Zara / Bag: Alexander Wang / Necklace: Romwe / Eyewear: SM Accessories

My favorite denim shirt makes another appearance. My sole excuse for incessantly reusing this shirt? It just goes with everything (see how I wore it HERE, HERE and HERE). And its lightweight fabric makes it manageable to wear even during the driest of dry days. Wore this ensemble to the launch of Wrangler's Denim Spa jeans -- jeans that can moisturize and smoothen your legs. Amazing, right? I'm definitely getting a pair and I suggest you get a pair (or two) too because the stocks for these Denim Spa jeans are limited!

P.S. How gorgeous is the wall art behind me? I spotted this while inside a cab, on the way back to our office. I'm such a sucker for female-themed artworks and this colorful graffiti served as a nice backdrop for my simple outfit. Kudos to the artist who created this obra.

NEW IN: Black Brenda

She's here!

I love this 'Mini Brenda' bag so much that I also got it in black. I'm sure her sister, Blue Brenda
would be thrilled to have her around. Haha!

Must Lust: Black & White Edit

Friday, April 5, 2013

I'm thinking of starting this "Must Lust" section on the blog where I get to share items that I'm currently coveting. Stay tuned for more!

P.S. Do not be surprised with the 66% Alexander Wang choices. I'm an A. Wang fan through and through...as if that's not yet obvious. *sheepish grin*
