Happy Pill

Top: Romwe / Pants & Heels: Zara / Bag: Balenciaga (buy HERE) / Earrings: The Jewelry Shop / Eyewear: Cotton On

Last week, Manila chanced upon two good days of sunny weather (albeit transient) which gave me an opportunity to concoct an equally sunshine-inspired ensemble. This loose peplum number  (which looks more neon lime in person) paired with comfortable wide leg pants (a steal from the Zara sale!) seemed to go well together and made for a perfect happy mood-inducing weapon.

This week has been challenging, what with a dreadful weather forecast of heavy rains, coupled with severe inundation in various parts of the country. My heart goes out to everyone who had to suffer from the aftermath of the heavy typhoon, Maring. If only the taxpayers' money are and were put to good use (for proper drainage and sewage systems, etc.), we wouldn't be experiencing these recurring problems caused by heavy rainfall/monsoon/typhoons (or at least, the aftermath wouldn't be as grave). Is it useless to hope for a better future for the Philippines?

I hope not.

Perspex & Mesh Lovin'

Margiela or no Margiela, these mesh boots with perspex heels are sexy as hell on well pedicured feet.

P.S. To all of my Filipino readers, hope you are all safe (and dry) at home!

Get A Leg Up

Skirt: Romwe / Jacket: Mango / Tank Top: Daley Tees / Shoes: Alexander Wang / Earrings: Chicnova / Wallet: Givenchy

I rarely wear clothes which are too revealing or coquettish. And when I do, I make a big effort to downplay the possible sexual undertone by throwing on a physical cover-up or an innocent demeanor. This mixed media skirt has a modest thigh slit which shows just the right amount of skin for a little Jolie side-leg-pose action. But while it's appropriate for daytime wear, a sleeved top or jacket should be strictly enforced.

What say you about the impending Friday? I'm pretty sure we're all looking forward to it (who isn't anyway?). By the way, I'll be flying to Cebu this weekend for the Ironman 70.3 event (no, I'm not racing). See you there?

Happy Endings

Dress: Romwe / Jacket: Mango / Bag & Shoes: Alexander Wang

Neon and mesh? What's not to love about this combo? Got this cool shirtdress from Romwe (one of my favorite online stores) a few months back. As soon as I was able to retrieve this dress from the postal office, I made sure it got acquainted with dear Mackenzie (on sale HERE at 60% off!) right away. Threw in the (faux) leather jacket for that added warmth inside the cinema -- where I had to muffle my screams with a handkerchief whilst I watched in awe the awesome movie that is World War Z. Have you seen it already? If you haven't yet, you definitely should. I'm not a fan of zombies but the movie is a-maze-balls (despite some loopholes in the story).

The Unholy

Top: Romwe / Skirt: The Ramp / Boots: Zara / Bag: Phillip Lim / Eyewear: Karen Walker

These past few days, waking up to a slight drizzle, wet pavement and a rumbling sky in the middle of an evil summer season is an unexpected and rare occurrence I'm more than willing to embrace and celebrate...with my pullovers and boots on. This angels-and-saints print sweater is just one of the cool merchandise I was able to source out from Romwe. It feels warm and fuzzy against my skin and even le boy can't stop petting it. Haha.

I wish the rainy season would come sooner. I can't wait to envelope myself with thicker garments and go on cuddle-weather mode.

Leggings: CROW / Jacket: Mango / Top: Romwe / Boots: Zara / Spiked Cuff: Pretty Little Blings / Eyewear: Subcult

I remember going through a "printed leggings phase" last year (as seen HERE and HERE). Apparently, the appeal of this type of leggings hasn't worn out on me yet. Printed pieces call for minimal accessories, hence the simple ear studs, a solitary spiked cuff and a swag pair of round mirrored sunglasses. On a different note, I feel so refreshed from the one-day holiday yesterday (all thanks to our local heroes). Killed the alarm clock, took a long snooze and woke up to have my nails done and decompress. How did you spend the holiday?

P.S. Brownie points to whoever can guess the song reference for this post's title. :P

I'll Track You Down

Thursday, April 4, 2013

Pants: Romwe / Jacket: H&M / Shoes: Mango / Bag & Earrings: F21

It's been awhile since these track pants and I got together (do you still remember them from HERE?). I've sorely missed these pants. So here we are with an outfit post, photos of which were shot in the middle of a very busy road (well, almost in the middle of the road) with more than a 1-minute waiting time in-between shutter clicks. Sigh. The things I would do to get a decent blog shot.

Kapow!

Jumper: Romwe / Skirt & Boots: Zara / Bag: Phillip Lim / Eyewear: Karen Walker / Necklaces: F21

You can say that I was going for a collegiate cheerleader look with this ensemble. Can someone hand me my pompoms? Haha! Okay, enough of twaddle talk. There's actually a back story to this outfit -- I wore it on the day of a photo shoot for a very special magazine feature (this fashion magazine is a favorite of mine!). I can't disclose any details yet but I'm so so so excited for this opportunity and I can't wait for the feature to come out!

P.S. Spot the side-shaved head. Kapow!

Long Vest

Vest, Top & Skirt: Romwe / Bag: Alexander Wang / Boots: Zara / Cross Bracelet: Romwe / Other Bracelets: Mauve

Nothing beats an outfit in a black and white color palette. If you find the combination a bit bland, you can also throw in some bright hues to add some cool flavor to the mix.

Hope you all felt the love on V-Day...and on any day for that matter. :)

Blue Baroque

Friday, January 4, 2013

Jacket: Romwe / Top: The Ramp / Shorts: Details By Details / Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim / Shoes: Zara / Earrings: SM Accessories

This is what I actually wore to our annual big family reunion on Christmas Day. The outfit is nothing really fancy and is definitely atypical of what one would normally wear to a family Christmas celebration (i.e. a pretty dress or a chic red-infused outfit). I went for a casual look since I knew I would be moving around a lot, such as engaging myself in parlor games and chasing after the little ones. I'm still not over the baroque print and this pair of Details By Details shorts in a lovely shade of cobalt blue somehow gives off a festive holiday vibe with it's gold baroque design, don't you think?

Hello, 2013!

Skirt: Romwe / Sweater: BU4 purchase (from Paul Jatayna) / Shoes & Bag: Alexander Wang / Necklaces: F21 / Bracelet: Saint Rebel Street Boutique

My first outfit post for 2013! Something cheery and festive!

Technically though, this was my last look for 2012. I wore this outfit for a simple year-ender/new-year-opener photo shoot with Anton last December 30. I wanted bright and luscious colors for my first outfit post for 2013 and this was what I came up with - a multicolored sequined skirt from Romwe and a punchy green sweater. What better way to welcome the new year than with sparkles, both on my skirt and on my...well...sparkler! Haha!

Again, Happy New Year to everyone! I'm so excited for 2013! Hope all of you are too!

Sweater: Romwe / Skirt: The Ramp / Bag & Shoes: Alexander Wang / Eyewear: Karen Walker / Earrings: F21

Hey, lovelies! How was your Christmas? My Christmas celebration experience was very simple and, well, typical -- we would always have our annual big family Christmas reunion (from my father's side) the whole day on Christmas Day. No matter how simple and typical our Christmas celebration is though, I always look forward to it because it's the only time I get to eat one of my favorite simple home-cooked dishes: nilagang tahong dipped in suka (steamed mussels dipped in vinegar), fresh from Cavite. I love it so much that I can devour a big bowlful of it in one sitting! I also love seeing my cousins, nephews and nieces having a great time as they enjoy the Christmas parlor games and receive their Christmas gifts. This simple and typical Christmas celebration (and family tradition) is something I truly cherish and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I hope all of you had a wonderful, love-filled Christmas celebration with your family/friends/significant others. Happy Holidays!
