The Illest Of The Illest

Friday, August 16, 2013

Sweater: 5Preview (via Shop YAWYW) / Skirt: Sabrina / Boots: Gold Dot / Bag: Alexander Wang / Cap: Illest (via Trilogy) / Eyewear: Karen Walker

This is my modified version of an urban streetwear ensemble, complemented by a swag snapback from Illest (love this brand!) and a 5Preview sweater (soon to be released on Shop YAWYW!). I've been drawn to this kind of look as of late (skirt + sweater + boots) since the start of the rainy season. Unlike others who envelop themselves with too much fabric to ward off the cold and the rain, I prefer donning short bottoms and rain-ready boots (such as this patent leather Lexi boots) since I despise the feeling of walking in funky-smelling rain-drenched pants or leggings.

Do you share the same mindset when it comes to dressing up for the rainy season?

Preview Style Profile Feature

Friday, May 3, 2013

The secret I've been keeping to myself for months is finally out! I'm so proud and excited to share with you my Style Profile feature for the May issue of Preview magazine. Can I get a slow clap? Haha! Seriously though, I'm truly honored and am very thankful to the Preview team for giving me another opportunity to grace the pages of their magazine (my very first feature in Preview was in 2010, with fellow fashion bloggers, Lissa, Rosanna and Hannah). I want to acknowledge and express my gratitude to Karen Bolilia, Preview's Editorial Assistant, for working on this feature and for being so gracious in "lending" us her beautiful home to serve as the backdrop for the photos. I'll be sharing with you the hi-res outfit layouts in a different post but for now, I leave you with small snapshots of the Style Profile article. I hope you can show your love and support for me by purchasing a copy (or copies) of  Preview magazine. :)

*Special credit also goes to the ever-amazing Anton Aguila for the photos, to Mica Regala for my makeup and to Preview Fashion Director, Daryl Chang, for the endorsement!

Karine

It's all Phoebe Philo's fault. Re-introducing the basic wedge pumps as a must-have commodity forced me to invest in all of its possible reincarnations. Thank goodness we have Gold Dot to satiate my shoe appetite, and at a much friendlier price. Just look at the wedges above. Check out the manly but sexy blocked wedge too. J'adore! I've got my eye on the white pair and on the decadent silver and gold ones too.

These babies are flying off the online shelves fast! So you better grab a pair asap!

The Best of 2012

Monday, December 31, 2012

Before we welcome the new year, I'd like to share with all of you a rundown of my favorite 2012 fashion moments. This year, my style sensibilities have definitely evolved into something more mature. I've learned to embrace things/trends/styles I swore years ago that I would never try (such as wearing stiletto sandals). I've also been more open to injecting a whole lot of prints and colors into my wardrobe (bright yellow, obviously, was a fave). I've also experimented with color on my hair when I sported ombre early this year. Looking back though, I kind of regret messing up with my hair, killing it with bleach and allowing it to look like a broomstick. Haha! Speaking of hair, this year has been privy to a dozen personal haircut changes. I started with long locks, had it cut shoulder-length, sported a boy's barber's cut and ended up with a pixie. While I do miss having a long mane, my favorite would have to be the pixie just because it's so easy to manage. I just had another haircut yesterday (a semi-pixie with semi-shaved sides) and I don't even know what's going to happen next to this fickle-minded hair of mine (Hahaha!).

Life and career-wise, 2012 had been a really interesting year for me. I made some mistakes here and there, visited new places and experienced new things, went through a quarter life crisis (sort of), received a handful of blessings and forged new friendships in the most unexpected places. I hope that in 2013 and in the years to come, I get to succeed in fulfilling my long-term goals.

Life, I hope, would be even greater.

To the brands who've supported and sponsored me this year, a big thank you to all of you! To my dear readers and friends, I wish each and everyone of you a fantastic new year ahead! May all of your wishes, goals and aspirations finally come true! Thank you so much for sticking with me!

White Riot

Shirt: Romwe / Jacket, Skirt, Earrings: F21 / Wedges: Finsk / Clutch: Tonic / Bracelets: Mauve / Cube Ring: Gold Dot

Went for a clean and minimalist look for Day 2 of Bloggers United 4. I initially wanted to go white all the way (white shoes, white accessories) but for fear of looking too "clinical", I decided to add some brown accents via my Finsk wedges and a leopard print clutch. The Romwe shirt I'm wearing here is quite interesting as it has a long U-shaped hem -- it will definitely work well as an undershirt when paired with logo tees and sweaters.

Lately, I've been addicted to large and chunky statement crystal earrings. For me, they are the perfect accessories to liven up a mundane outfit. How about you, what's your favorite accessory?

P.S. To all of the readers/guests who dropped by our booth during BU4 and took photos with me, do email me a hi-res copy of our photos. I would love to post them here in my blog.

Fran Wedges
Freya Booties & Flynn Heels

Gold Dot has come up with another fantastic collection entitled 'Marina'. Keeping true to their tough and avant-garde aesthetic, Gold Dot took inspiration from elements thriving in la mer, such as the glorious octopus, with its tentacles manifested in the straps embracing the base of Freya and Flynn. The color story in Marina is inspired by the sea as well, with its cool aquamarine and sand hues. I already have my hands on the Fran wedges. Its open toe design not only allows for good ventilation, it also opens up the opportunity to show off your well-manicured feet. Now that's sexy.

You can order your very own pair from the Marina Collection HERE or you can drop by at the Supersale Bazaar today until tomorrow.

Pinoy Pride

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Gold Dot, one of my favorite local shoe brands, is joining the shoe roster of Solestruck very soon! For those of you who are not familiar with Solestruck, it's a popular online shop based in Portland, USA and houses mega shoe brands such as our favorite Jeffrey Campbell, Acne, Sense, Matiko, Dolce Vita and other amazing brands. Gold Dot will be the first...I repeat...FIRST Filipino shoe brand to be included in the Solestruck shop! To all of my international readers who have been waiting to get their hands on a Gold Dot pair, you can now purchase your GDs from Solestruck soon!

I think Gold Dot deserves a mean "Hell Yeah!" and a loud round of applause! Woot! I'm so proud of you, Ally Duazo and Karl Leuterio! Here's to Pinoy pride!

Summer of Love

(Orange Blazer: F21// Top: Style Staple// Jeans: Zara// Eyewear: Karen Walker// Pumps: So Fab// Clutch: Gold Dot// Necklace: Ruckus// Cuff: SM Accessories)

I'm actually wearing a deep tangerine blazer here but the color came out a little bit on the crimson side in the photos. I used to despise the orange hue on any article of clothing before as I found it too loud and quite tacky. But recently, I've come to embrace it. It truly is a fun, summery color. Speaking of summer, how cute are these blue pumps for So! F.A.B.? I'm not usually attracted to pumps as pretty as these but the chunky towering heels got me. And with the addition of a rope material near the sole, these could very well be the perfect pair of pumps for summer. However, if you like some summer wedges or flats instead, So! F.A.B. has a lot of choices out in stores.

Beyond The Obvious

(Jumper: Clothes For The Goddess// Skirt: WAGW// Wedges: Gold Dot// Necklace: H&M// Cuff: Ruckus// Stud Earrings: Topshop// Gold Metal Belt: Nava)

Edric is one of those people who appreciates the beauty in the mundane and sees a story behind and beyond the obvious. And he was able to capture that in this photo set. In the first photo, it seems as if I'm a few feet away from the edge of a precipice...but the truth is, I was just standing behind an expansive white wall. Brilliant, right?

Yes. See you soon again, Edric.

Goth Nomad

(Leather Jacket: Zara// Dress: Paradigm Shift// Wedges: Gold Dot// Collarbone Necklace: OS// Cuff: Ruckus)

As promised, here are the photos from the collabo shoot I had with Anton. Anton currently dabbles in street photography, taking photos of friends and of random breathing souls. I'm not sure if this shoot was his first themed one, but I sure did enjoy doing it with him. It's nice to break away from "outfit" posts once in a while. It's also great to be in the company of people who share the same interests and vision as I do, moreso if they all reside in the same area as where I live (cheers to the South, baby!). When Anton and I were discussing the theme for this shoot, I knew in my head that I wanted to wear this Ornithopter dress from Paradigm Shift. It's such a simple piece but has a tough and sultry whimsy to it. It sure hell looks good with the Drei wedges from Gold Dot too. Now, if this look doesn't project a "Don't you dare mess with me!" 'tude, I don't know what else will.

I'll share another set of photos in the next post! Till then, lovelies! :)

P.S. Thank you once again to Camille Regala for doing my hair and makeup for this shoot. You effin' rock, baby girl! Hell yeahz!
