Mad For Plaid

Gray Button Down & Plaid Button Down: Lee Jeans / Shoes: Romwe / Bag: Alexander Wang

My Bazooka Rocks OOTD.

I'm quite the sucker for plaid button downs. It has a nostalgic grunge appeal that I always associate with rock bands and music festivals. Since I was attending a rock fest, my fashion weapon of choice had to be a plaid button down...but worn differently. Instead of having it envelope my hips (yet again), I toyed with the idea of converting my Lee plaid button down shirt into a skirt (ever the experimental fashionista that I am). And to shake things up further, I went with a BDOBD (button-down-on-button-down) configuration (both from Lee, by the way), paired with mesh boots ala Margiela. If you knew me well, you should've been able to deduce that I handpicked these two button downs from the men's section, just because I like my shirts big and loose. I am actually quite in love with the grey button down -- it makes me feel masculine and sexy at the same time.

Oh, and just a tip: the green plaid shirt I'm wearing is reversible. Yes. You get two shirts for the price of one, baby!

P.S. I will be sharing event photos from Bazooka Rocks 2013 soon! Watch out for it!

The Illest Of The Illest

Friday, August 16, 2013

Sweater: 5Preview (via Shop YAWYW) / Skirt: Sabrina / Boots: Gold Dot / Bag: Alexander Wang / Cap: Illest (via Trilogy) / Eyewear: Karen Walker

This is my modified version of an urban streetwear ensemble, complemented by a swag snapback from Illest (love this brand!) and a 5Preview sweater (soon to be released on Shop YAWYW!). I've been drawn to this kind of look as of late (skirt + sweater + boots) since the start of the rainy season. Unlike others who envelop themselves with too much fabric to ward off the cold and the rain, I prefer donning short bottoms and rain-ready boots (such as this patent leather Lexi boots) since I despise the feeling of walking in funky-smelling rain-drenched pants or leggings.

Do you share the same mindset when it comes to dressing up for the rainy season?

The Best of 2012

Monday, December 31, 2012

Before we welcome the new year, I'd like to share with all of you a rundown of my favorite 2012 fashion moments. This year, my style sensibilities have definitely evolved into something more mature. I've learned to embrace things/trends/styles I swore years ago that I would never try (such as wearing stiletto sandals). I've also been more open to injecting a whole lot of prints and colors into my wardrobe (bright yellow, obviously, was a fave). I've also experimented with color on my hair when I sported ombre early this year. Looking back though, I kind of regret messing up with my hair, killing it with bleach and allowing it to look like a broomstick. Haha! Speaking of hair, this year has been privy to a dozen personal haircut changes. I started with long locks, had it cut shoulder-length, sported a boy's barber's cut and ended up with a pixie. While I do miss having a long mane, my favorite would have to be the pixie just because it's so easy to manage. I just had another haircut yesterday (a semi-pixie with semi-shaved sides) and I don't even know what's going to happen next to this fickle-minded hair of mine (Hahaha!).

Life and career-wise, 2012 had been a really interesting year for me. I made some mistakes here and there, visited new places and experienced new things, went through a quarter life crisis (sort of), received a handful of blessings and forged new friendships in the most unexpected places. I hope that in 2013 and in the years to come, I get to succeed in fulfilling my long-term goals.

Life, I hope, would be even greater.

To the brands who've supported and sponsored me this year, a big thank you to all of you! To my dear readers and friends, I wish each and everyone of you a fantastic new year ahead! May all of your wishes, goals and aspirations finally come true! Thank you so much for sticking with me!
