Coffee With Cream

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

(Sweater: Ukayista// Skirt: Style District // Boots: Jeffrey Campbell // Necklace & Cuffs: Ruckus)

A friend of mine made a comment on how the color of my ombre top reminded him of coffee with cream...and I couldn't agree more! I initially thought of wearing this knit top with leather shorts but I ended up going for this almost-forgotten mullet skirt. It's a good pairing, I must say. I wore this outfit last Saturday to a group photo for Mango "Styled By". This project involves various sought-after stylists and fellow bloggers (such as Laureen, Kryz, Raleene & Pax). The group photo will be posted in the Mango FB Page this December. I'll share with you the BTS and actual photos very soon!

P.S. I can't contain my excitement for the upcoming Blogger's United Bazaar! I'm going to start sorting out the pieces that I will be selling on Saturday and will be posting photos of some of these within the week! See you guys!

Winter Is Coming...

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

(Mauve Top: Summersault // Fur Vest: WAGW // Skirt: F21 // Shoes: Primadonna // Necklace & Cuffs: Ruckus)

I wish we had winter season here in the Philippines so that I can play around with various degrees of layers and wear the thickest of faux fur coats. Unfortunately, I would have to settle for December's mild cold breeze and learn to live with pairing fur-trimmed vests with short but decent bottoms. This furry ensemble I came up with actually elicited some reactions from people. They must've thought I've lost my mind by wearing a fur piece in a tropical country. Well all I can say is... I.JUST.DON'T.GIVE.A.DAMN. In other news, I've recently developed a fondness for platform pumps. As I much as I hate to admit it, pumps bring out the girly, saccharine side of me and it's nice to act like a "real lady" from time to time (whatever that means!). I'm completely loving this snakeskin print pumps that the Primadonna folks sent over. The height is just right and the heels are chunky...just the way I like it!

Speaking of Primadonna, the brand will be launching their newest celebrity endorser (clue: she is a GODDESS!) in a grand event tomorrow. For more updates on Primadonna, check out their FB Page and Twitter account.

One Last Request

(Shirt: Giordano Ball Tee // Jacket: Coexist // Leather Pants: Zara // Pumps: F21)

This is the 2nd and final look that I came up with for the Giordano Fashion Showdown (posted my 1st look HERE). For this look, I decided to go with a pair of red pumps to soften the toughness of the leather jacket and pants.

Once again, if it's not too much to ask, I hope you guys can support me in the Giordano Fashion Showdown by voting for my entries.

White Cape

Thursday, November 17, 2011

(Cape Jacket: The Ramp // Top: WAGW // Shorts: Street Beat Boutique // Boots: Dolce Vita "Wilix" // Clutch: Dorothy Perkins // Stone Ring: Diva // Eyewear: H&M // Lips: MAC Spitfire)

This elusive cape-type of jacket has been playing hide-and-seek with me for the longest time. Finally, I was triumphant to have found one in the treasure chest that is The Ramp. The jacket has a bit of a tailored structure so I kept all other elements of my look casual. Coming up with this outfit was also the perfect opportunity to whip out my Dolce Vite boots, what with its rugged character. I wouldn't mind having these boots beaten down further.

Cable Knit

(Knit Dress: F21 // Wedges: Soule Phenomenon // Cuff: ASOS)

What I wore to Day 6 of Philippine Fashion Week. This is also the same look that was published in Hanger, a Malaysian-based fashion magazine (will share a photo of the feature once I get a scanned copy). I got this knit dress from F21 for almost 70% off (such a great buy, I must say). I haven't seen any knit dress like it locally so I'm pretty stoked about this purchase. Even though the knit material is quite chunky and heavy, it's still comfortable to wear under Philippine weather...thanks to its sleeveless design! I channeled a bit of an Alexander Wang SS '09 look with this knit dress. Paired it with my favorite stinky beanie and my beloved Soule Phenomenon wedges for a look that's simple but a bit rugged.

Giordano Fashion Showdown: Look 1

Monday, November 14, 2011

(Ball Tee: Giordano // Leather Jacket: Mango // Skirt: Incez Axe // Boots: Chloe Sevigny x Opening Ceremony)

About a month ago, I and three other bloggers were invited by Giordano Philippines to take part in the Giordano Fashion Showdown contest. We were challenged to style a Giordano Ball Tee of our choice and to come up with two looks incorporating the Ball Tee. The outfit above is one of the two looks I came up with. I chose a Ball Tee that had some pop of color to it and paired it with tough leather pieces for a rebel, "off-to-Coachella" look.

If it's not too much to ask, I hope you guys can help vote for me in the Giordano Fashion Showdown by leaving a positive comment (or two) on any of my two looks HERE and HERE. Everyone can leave a comment (yes, that includes you my dear international readers!). All you have to do is:

1. "Like" Giordano Philippines in Facebook
2. Leave as many comments as you like on my two looks (HERE and HERE)

Voting ends on November 22. Remember, one comment = one vote and the look with the most number of comments wins a cash prize! So I hope you guys can help me out on this. I will GREATLY appreciate it! :)

P.S. Check out what looks my blogger friends (Pax, Ava & Gela) came up with as well! It's quite funny and amazing how Pax, Ava and I all chose the same Ball Tee by coincidence. Haha!

Detached

(Top: Topshop // Skirt: I Candy // Detachable Collar: courtesy of Miss Sartorial // Boots: Jeffrey Campbell // Leather Cord Bracelet: courtesy of Holic // Stone Ring & Jade Bracelet: courtesy of Love Diva)

I'm over the moon with this detachable sport collar (I also have another one in a cute leopard print peter pan collar style). It's such a "fun" accessory to play with! I adore the print and the eye-catching color combination of blue + lime green (the colors actually reminds of Proenza Schouler). The punchy colors definitely stood out from the black & white hues of my top and skirt. I already have so many outfit ideas for this collar and I'm just itching to execute them!

If you're interested in getting some detachable collars for yourselves too, then check out Miss Sartorial. There are a variety of prints and collars to choose from (my other top choices are THIS, THIS & THIS). And for the price of just Php380, you can't go wrong with that!

Thank you so much to Sharon Ong for my detachable collars!

Sweet Treats

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

I am not a fan of sweets but I have a very sweet spot for Sophie's Mom's sweet treats. My first taste of Sophie's Mom's treats was during the 1st Blogger's United Bazaar last May 2011. I got the Strawberries & Cream mochi ice cream and I must say, it got me at first bite (more about my mochi ice cream post HERE). But Sophie's Mom is not just about mochis. They also offer a variety of cookies, cupcakes, pastries and bread. About 3 weeks ago, I received two boxes filled with savory sweet creations (and le tummy couldn't be happier). Take a look below to find out what was inside those boxes.

Inside one of the boxes are 6 pieces of decadent Red Velvet cupcakes. To be honest, Red Velvet is my least favorite flavor for cakes (well, that and Banan too). I just don't like cheese mixed with anything sweet (and this includes cheess in puto or bibingka). But Sophie's Mom's Red Velvet cupcake is a whole different story. The cream cheese topping is not too "cheesy" (which works for me!) and inside the cupcake are chocolate chiips (which for me, counters the cream cheese taste a bit).

Moving on to the other box...

Inside is a mix of different pastries and cookies: Spanish bread, Oreo stookies, Nutella sweet buns and White Chocolate Macadamia cookies. The Spanish bread was a bit of a surprise. I don't like Spanish bread in general. There's something about its taste which doesn't sit well on me. But Sophie's Mom's Spanish bread is different. It has a sweet creamy filling which tastes like pastillas. I give extra points to Sophie's Mom for coming up with a new version of Spanish bread! The small buns (with sesame seeds) that you see in the photos above are the Nutella buns. This is a wee bit like the local pandesal but with a chocolate filling inside. Very tasty and yummy! As for the cookies, unfortunately, I wasn't able to taste any of them because my officemates ate all of them! Haha!

If you want to order any of these treats from Sophie's Mom, just visit their shop at 8760 Santol St., San Antonio Village, 1203 Makati Philippines (see sketch map below). You can also reach S.M. via landline (4048165) or fax (8564849).
