90's Baby

Monday, March 18, 2013

Top: ASOS / Skirt: Topshop / Plaid Shirt: Folded & Hung / Boots: Opening Ceremony x Chloe Sevigny / Bag: Alexander Wang

Even if I'm already in my 30's, I tend to gravitate towards 90's inspired fashion most of the time. Hey! I'm a 90's baby after all (born in the 80's but spent my seminal years in the 90's). Back in the 90's though, I didn't dress up like this. I was more into baggy shirts and trousers and denim jeans (spell t-o-m-b-o-y). It was only recently that I found myself liking everything about 90's fashion again, specifically grunge looks -- the plaid shirts, chunky boots, cropped tops and bandage skirts and the overall laid back, "i-don't-care-wachuthink" attitude that goes with it.

Here's to 90's y'all! It definitely ain't dead.

P.S. See more of my grunge-inspired looks HERE, HERE and HERE.

Of Snapbacks and Varsity Jackets

Monday, November 26, 2012

Jacket: Folded & Hung / Shorts: Nike / Top: thrifted / Boots: CS x Opening Ceremony / Bag: Alexander Wang / Earrings & Bra: F21

Running shorts + snapback + varsity jacket...this is as casual and sporty as it gets. Surprisingly, my favorite item in this whole look is the pair of Nike running shorts. I wear it almost every week! Yes, they're meant for running but they showed a lot of potential to be worn beyond what their purpose & function really is. Nothing beats going around in the city in a casual and comfortable pair of shorts. My 2nd favorite item here is the quilted varsity jacket. I actually picked it out from the Men's Section of Folded & Hung. When it comes to jackets (save for motorcyle types), I like them a bit big and loose and the Men's Section is my go-to area for needs like this. You should try it out too!

I know I haven't been uploading outfit posts for more than a week now...and if you're a regular reader, you probably know what kept me from doing so. I'll try my hardest to post more looks this week and the coming weeks. Wish me luck!

P.S. Don't forget to join my Nastygal wardrobe giveaway! Get a chance to win Php5,000 worth of clothes! Deadline has been extended until December 3. Details HERE.

Zena

Dress: Motel Rocks / Boots: CS x Opening Ceremony / Purse: SM Accessories / Bracelets: Mauve

One brand which never fails to amaze me with its great selection of form-fitting dresses in fun prints would have to be Motel Rocks. Take this Zena dress as an example -- the halter cut is flattering on almost any body type and the print (which reminds me of a Chinese porcelain vase) is striking enough to stand out on its own that you don't need to add any other accessories, save for a few bangles or a pair of statement earrings. Agree? :)

Check out some of Motel Rock's bodycon dresses HERE.

Leggings: Apartment 8 / Top: Topshop / Boots: CS x Opening Ceremony / Bangles: Mauve / Bag: Designer IT Lab

You're probably wondering why I have this shirt on backwards. Be enlightened my friends -- the explanation is simple: I wanted a plain black top that wouldn't clash with my heavily printed leggings but I didn't have any which was readily available in my closet. Hence, I improvised. You may laugh at the concept but personally, I think having the printed part of the top at the back is way cooler than having it in the front.

P.S. I'm seriously loving this stack of bangles from Mauve. Cool, aint it?

Fuzzy

Sunday, January 29, 2012

(Fuzzy Jacket: Twinky // Top: Daley Tees // Jeans: Topshop // Boots: CS x OC // Hat: F21 // Bag: via IT Designer Lab // Eyewear: SM Accessories)

Wore this fuzzy jacket on a day when the Manila weather wasn't too belligerently stifling...and I must say, that day was a damn pretty good day. Kept everything else simple and unpremeditated. Seriously, you cannot go wrong with a pair of good-fitting jeans and a white loose tank top. Currently, I'm finding myself drawn again to skinny jeans and vintage-style sunglasses. I used to collect vintage eyewear with beautiful gold frames. Unfortunately, I can't find them anymore. Mother dearest must have accidentally given them away. Oh I hope not. :?

Burgundy

Monday, January 2, 2012

(Waxed Jeans: Zara // Top: F21 // Boots: Chloe Sevigny x OC // Clutch: Dorothy Perkins)

NOTE: This is a backlog post from when I still had darker hair.

A bit obsessed with these waxed burgundy jeans. Been wearing them quite a lot, especially on off days. I want another pair of burgundy jeans that has a bit more plum hue to it. Anyway, wore this outfit to a casual meeting with the folks from So Fab last December 11 (a lagged post, I know). So Fab, a local shoe brand, is collaborating with fashion bloggers for a very, very special project and I'm so excited to be part of this! Definitely a great way to kick off 2012! Will reveal further details about this project in weeks to come.

P.S. Damn. These photos are making me miss my dark locks. Oh well... :(

Starting The New Year With A Bang!

Sunday, January 1, 2012

(Sweater Dress: F21 // Boots: Chloe Sevigny x OC // Clutch, Necklace, Beret & Ring: SM Accessories)

Hello, everyone! I've welcomed the new year with a bang...hair "bangs" that is! And as mentioned two posts ago, I now have ombre hair! I decided to celebrate a new year with a new haircut and color since I was already bored with my previous hair. I kept tying it up on a bun because I didn't know how else to style it. I'm not 100% satisfied with my ombre hair though (I look more like a K-Pop Star rather than a Rockstar...hahahaha!). I will have to go back to the salon another time (to have the top darkened a bit, have the blonde portion reduced and have the orange tones at the ends removed) but as of now, I'm trying to enjoy my new hair. Let's see if blondes really do have more fun!

Now on to the outfit...

I've been enjoying the "sweater-weather" in Manila lately. I've stocked up on a lot of lightweight knit pieces that's wearable in the day but could still keep me warm enough when it gets a bit chilly at night. This knit dress from Forever21 is such a great buy. I love the color combination of navy blue and gray, accented by gold threads. I decided to play up the gold accents of the dress with gold pieces of jewelry such as this beautiful jewel-encrusted cross necklace from SM Accessories. I'm not really a fan of gems on jewelry but this necklace had a bit of Russian opulence which spoke to me. And oh, how fun is this fur beret? I keep on stroking it everytime I have it on.

P.S. I still have a lot of backlog outfit posts with the old hair so expect to see those mixed up with blonde-hair-outfit-posts. I'll say it again...Happy New Year, everyone! I'm excited for this year!

Traffic Stopper

Thursday, December 15, 2011

(Jumper & Skirt: F21 / Boots: C. Sevigny x Opening Ceremony / Necklace: H&M / Clutch: Cole Vintage / Cuffs: The Ramp)

How's this for some bright colors overload? Haha! Lately, I've been drawn to traffic-stopping colors that just slaps you right in the face. I've also been stocking non-stop on knit jumpers. They're just so easy to wear and can be worn with almost any kind of bottom.

The week is almost over and there only 9 days left till Christmas! Hope everyone is doing fine. Cheer up, it's Christmas!

P.S. I'd like to give a shout to this sweet reader who approached me in F21 this evening (yes, I went shopping-crazy again at F21! Haha!). Hello, Bea! :)

Giordano Fashion Showdown: Look 1

Monday, November 14, 2011

(Ball Tee: Giordano // Leather Jacket: Mango // Skirt: Incez Axe // Boots: Chloe Sevigny x Opening Ceremony)

About a month ago, I and three other bloggers were invited by Giordano Philippines to take part in the Giordano Fashion Showdown contest. We were challenged to style a Giordano Ball Tee of our choice and to come up with two looks incorporating the Ball Tee. The outfit above is one of the two looks I came up with. I chose a Ball Tee that had some pop of color to it and paired it with tough leather pieces for a rebel, "off-to-Coachella" look.

If it's not too much to ask, I hope you guys can help vote for me in the Giordano Fashion Showdown by leaving a positive comment (or two) on any of my two looks HERE and HERE. Everyone can leave a comment (yes, that includes you my dear international readers!). All you have to do is:

1. "Like" Giordano Philippines in Facebook
2. Leave as many comments as you like on my two looks (HERE and HERE)

Voting ends on November 22. Remember, one comment = one vote and the look with the most number of comments wins a cash prize! So I hope you guys can help me out on this. I will GREATLY appreciate it! :)

P.S. Check out what looks my blogger friends (Pax, Ava & Gela) came up with as well! It's quite funny and amazing how Pax, Ava and I all chose the same Ball Tee by coincidence. Haha!

Red Hot Fury + Animal Prints

Friday, October 28, 2011

(Pants, Cardigan, Eyewear, Earrings, Clutch: Mango // Boots: Chloe Sevigny x Opening Ceremony)

Acid bright red pants paired with animal prints.

This is what I wore for the 3rd Mango x Stylebible Blogger Challenge. I saw a number of animal print pieces in the Mango store but I ended up going with this cropped cardigan. I knew it would go well with the red skinny jeans and a pair of platform boots. And oh, I'm totally obsessed with the animal-print clutch! It's made of genuine leather and horse hair. Really decadent, I must say.
