Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Pants: Zara / Top: H&M / Blazer: F21 / Boots: Topshop / Bag: Ombre

I inadvertently overlooked this outfit photo set from the last day of our stay in Seoul. It was bitingly cold that day and I was slightly shivering when these photos were being snapped. What added to the cold was the drizzle, hence the umbrella. Rainy season is already starting to make its presence felt in the Philippines and I'm already dreading the periods of heavy downpour. I hate threading big puddles of water and getting my shoes, socks and feet wet! But to be fair to the rain, I love the cold draft that comes along with it. There's nothing better than staying in on a cold rainy day and snuggling with pillows and cuddly plush toys. Yes, this is one of the understated joys of life that I relish.

When The World Slips You A Jeffrey...

(Jacket: Twinky// Vest: F21// Top: Daley Tees// Jeans: Zara// Boots: Jeffrey Campbell)

...stroke the furry wall.

It rained on our third day in Seoul and the weather became extremely chilly (I was not prepared for it at all!). The accompanying wind was so strong that it broke my cute but frail umbrella. I was originally planning on wearing the faux fur vest with just a simple white shirt but the cold weather called for more layers. I didn't have enough warm jackets with me so I took my chances and paired the vest with a fuzzy jacket. In the end, I was satisfied with the overall look.

P.S. The title of this post is in reference to the song, "Furry Wall" from the movie, "Get Him To The Greek". :)

Load Up On Guns, Bring Your Friends

(Denim Jacket: Bim Bim Haus// Skirt: Pinkaholic Fashion Shoppe// Shirt: The Afterglow// Creeper Boots: Jeffrey Campbell// Body Harness: Superfluously// Silver Cuff: Ruckus)

I borrowed the title of this post from the opening line of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", which could very well be the grunge anthem of the 90s. This photo set is a continuation of the grunge series that Edric and I collaborated on and my outfit here is probably my favorite out of the three sets I prepared...partly due to the fact that I took the risk and wore this asymmetrical skirt sideways (see proper way of wearing this skirt here). Topped with a bleached denim jacket and platform creepers, I'm ready to slash it out in a music festival and run the streets with reckless abandon.

Edric, thank you for capturing the vulnerable side of me through these photos.

P.S. I'm currently in Davao for Araw ng Dabaw and will be in Barangay SIR Covered Court tomorrow for the Joy Kaon Ta, Davao event. If you guys are near the area, hope you can drop by! :)

Grunge Ain't Dead

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

(Jacket: Zara// Cropped Top & Joggers: Topshop// Boots: Jeffrey Campbell// Eagle Necklace: F21// Bird Skull Necklace: Gold Dot// Eyewear: H&M// Snake Adderbite Ring: Bring)

I was an 80's baby but I was a 90's kid. Most of my formative and memorable years were spent in the decade of excess, of side high ponytails, of family computers, Bazooka Joe's and rock n' rollin' grunge. Though I never dressed up in grunge looks when I was growing up (I was more into baggy tops and hip hop shorts. *Cringes*), it's one of the styles that I fully embrace today. For my shoot with Edric, we went for a grunge theme, as evidenced in the photos above. Love how Edric was able to capture my crazy side and my awkward 'show-your-big-gums' smile. And the highlight of the photo shoot? Running away and hiding from nosy guards and riding a shopping cart (with some people ogling) to capture the 'money shot'.

It's always a fun and pleasurable experience hanging out with you, Edric. We definitely have to have that food trip. :)

Fluorescent Yellow

Thursday, March 1, 2012

(Top: F21// Jeans: Zara// Bag: Phillip Lim Pashli// "Bowie" Pumps: Sugarfree// Cuff & Ring: SM Accessories// Necklace: Ruckus)

Remember when I mentioned here that I'm quite fixated with the color yellow? Here's proof -- another bright and sunny yellow ensemble. It feels quite liberating to digress from my all-black or dark-hued outfits once in a while...and what better way to embrace color than to wear a fluorescent yellow piece! Paired with cheery blue suede pumps, I'm all ready to blow a dust of happy sunshine onto everyone. :)

If you wish to get your hands on a lovely pair of Sugarfree pumps (like mine), you can visit their FB page HERE. Sugarfree is also available in the Young Adults Section of Rustans Makati and Alabang.

Mullet Skirt

Monday, October 17, 2011

(Cardigan: Zara // Top: Topshop // Skirt: F21 // Boots: Jeffrey Campbell // Silver Bangles: Parfois // Friendship Chain Bracelet: courtesy of Extremefinds Co.)

You've seen me wear this skirt knotted on the side HERE. Now, I'm wearing it mullet style. The pinning is a bit shabby but it works well with the whole unfussy grunge look I was going for. Sealed the look with an old slouchy cardigan, piled-on silver bangles and a cool friendship bracelet. I have this friendship bracelet in two other colors (you saw one version HERE) and when all worn together, it's an arm party waiting to happen.

P.P.S. Be prepared to cringe in disgust because you'll be seeing more of this black smelly beanie in upcoming posts. Hahaha!
