She Sells Seashells By The Seashore

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

(Top: Binkydoodles// Shorts: Pinkaholic Fashion Shoppe// Heels: Zara// Necklace: H&M// Eyewear: Karen Walker// Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim 'Pashli')

My apologies for the 3-day absence. I spent the weekend burning myself under the La Union sun. I don't have enough photos from that beach trip (I got too lazy to lug my camera around) but I'll try to share captured moments soon. Just a heads up -- I'm going MIA again. I'll be leaving for Seoul on Thursday (early morning flight! eep!). I'm still contemplating on whether I should bring my laptop (so that I can update the blog) or not. I can't wait to see cherry blossoms up close though for the first time! They say cherry blossoms will be in full bloom in Korea around this month. In the meantime, I'm leaving you with outfit shots taken right before I had my hair chopped.

Yes, you read that right. I had my hair chopped. :)

P.S. Thank you to Bianca for the lovely sheer seashell-print top!

With The Lights Out

(Leather Jacket: Zara// Velvet Dress: Pinkaholic// Boots: Jeffrey Campbell)

Sharing with you the 3rd and last set of photos from my grunge series shoot with Edric Chen (see the other sets HERE and HERE). For these photos, I brought Edric to one my favorite places to shoot in the South area. Said location had a decrepit swimming pool which looks amazing during the day -- it's covered with leaves and growing wildflowers and has boulders scattered here and there. At night though, it is enveloped by total darkness and looks a bit sinister. To be honest, I was really worried and petrified to have my photos taken in the pool. I don't even have to deny that I'm a scaredy-cat. Every time I felt the wind rustle and heard the leaves crackle, I felt as if someone was watching us. In the end, I agreed to jump down the pool. I didn't want to let Edric down and waste his time. It was a good decision though as the photos turned out eerily cool.

Read Edric's positive account regarding this shoot HERE.

Thank you, Edric. Here's to new discoveries and experiences!

Load Up On Guns, Bring Your Friends

Saturday, March 17, 2012

(Denim Jacket: Bim Bim Haus// Skirt: Pinkaholic Fashion Shoppe// Shirt: The Afterglow// Creeper Boots: Jeffrey Campbell// Body Harness: Superfluously// Silver Cuff: Ruckus)

I borrowed the title of this post from the opening line of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", which could very well be the grunge anthem of the 90s. This photo set is a continuation of the grunge series that Edric and I collaborated on and my outfit here is probably my favorite out of the three sets I prepared...partly due to the fact that I took the risk and wore this asymmetrical skirt sideways (see proper way of wearing this skirt here). Topped with a bleached denim jacket and platform creepers, I'm ready to slash it out in a music festival and run the streets with reckless abandon.

Edric, thank you for capturing the vulnerable side of me through these photos.

P.S. I'm currently in Davao for Araw ng Dabaw and will be in Barangay SIR Covered Court tomorrow for the Joy Kaon Ta, Davao event. If you guys are near the area, hope you can drop by! :)

Velvety Blue

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

(Striped Sweater: Zara// Cardigan: Giordano// Shorts: Pinkaholic Fashion Shoppe// Pumps: Feet For A Queen// Clutch: Topshop// Ring: SM Accessories)

Here's the blue version of the velvet shorts I wore in this POST. Among the two colors, I have a soft spot for this ink hue. It's even more gorgeous when seen up close. The sheen gets played up when light hits the fabric. I decided to pair these shorts with my towering red pumps and transforming cardigan from Giordano (wore it as a vest). I've had this cardigan for quite some now but I only had the chance to feature it in this blog today (blame it on my chaos of a closet). There are a lot of available multi-way dresses in stores but nothing much on multi-way outerwear pieces. This cardigan is such a good buy for its versatility and function. I can wear it in many different ways and it helps keep me warm during colder days and inside freezing airconditioned areas.

Velvet & Sequins

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

(Cape Top: Nima // Shorts: Pinkaholic Fashion Shoppe // Shoes: Zara // Turban: c/o Flatterbuy // Clutch: F21 // Claw Bangle: via IT Designer Lab)

Oh, velvet. Why do you have to be so soft and plush? I can't help but caress you and hold you next to my cheeks. Okay, okay. Pardon me for this rubbish soliloquy, but I think velvet (and sequins) will be a big part of my life this 2012. Just about 2 months ago, I got myself a pair of crushed velvet bell bottoms (just waiting for the parcel to arrive) and now, I have this gorgeous pair of black velvet shorts (and in blue too! ack!). When I saw these shorts online, I knew right away in my head that it will go so well with a cape top and a pair of snakeskin & suede heels that I recently got from the Zara sale. For this look, I played with white, red and black hues and threw in metallic colors as an accent. These shorts are already sold out in Pinkaholic Fashion Shoppe but can you still get your hands on a similar pair from Topshop...but for double the price. :?
