With The Lights Out

(Leather Jacket: Zara// Velvet Dress: Pinkaholic// Boots: Jeffrey Campbell)

Sharing with you the 3rd and last set of photos from my grunge series shoot with Edric Chen (see the other sets HERE and HERE). For these photos, I brought Edric to one my favorite places to shoot in the South area. Said location had a decrepit swimming pool which looks amazing during the day -- it's covered with leaves and growing wildflowers and has boulders scattered here and there. At night though, it is enveloped by total darkness and looks a bit sinister. To be honest, I was really worried and petrified to have my photos taken in the pool. I don't even have to deny that I'm a scaredy-cat. Every time I felt the wind rustle and heard the leaves crackle, I felt as if someone was watching us. In the end, I agreed to jump down the pool. I didn't want to let Edric down and waste his time. It was a good decision though as the photos turned out eerily cool.

Read Edric's positive account regarding this shoot HERE.

Thank you, Edric. Here's to new discoveries and experiences!

Pajama Time

Sunday, March 25, 2012

(Top & Pants: Zara// Eyewear: Karen Walker// Pumps: Sugarfree// Purse: F21// Necklace: H&M// Friendship Bracelet: Extremefinds// Jade Bracelet: Love Diva// Watch: Casio)

In the spirit of summer, I'm going full out on color. This is probably the most colorful ensemble I've ever concocted in my life! Haha! Wore this to a Blogger's Style Makeover Party by Funky Plum Vintage and to my godson's birthday party. Pajamas are a hot, hot, hot fashion trend this season and I'm wearing one of Zara's version of the "pajama pants". This pair is really comfy (and silky smooth to the touch, I must add! haha!) and while they are extra long and wide, it's easy to wear during hot days because of its lightweight and breezy fabric. If given the resources, I would love to have my hands on a lovely  pajama set from Celine. Well, a girl can dream.

P.S. Come follow me on Pinterest!

For Heir

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

(Cardigan: Heir// Jeans & Heels: Zara// Clutch: SM Accessories// Necklace: Ruckus// Stackable Rings: Crow)

Just a simple perk-me-up look with the help of a summery tri-color cardigan from Heir. How was the start of your week, lovelies? I just came back from an eventful 3-day trip to Davao for Araw ng Dabaw and Joy Kaon Ta, Davao! While our beach/nature-tripping plans didn't push thru, my colleagues and I had the opportunity to sample the delicious Davao fare from a must-visit food stop, Jack's Ridge. The taste of durian embedded in different food concoctions reminded me though on how much  I loathe its pungent smell. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy my durian flan and coffee. Haha.

P.S. How cool is my cosmic header? A big thank you to the creative Luang sisters, Camille & Christine, for indulging me and granting my header request!

P.P.S. I'm in Pinterest! Come follow me at http://pinterest.com/deathbyplatform. :)

Waterless

On March 22, 2012, Levi’s will be celebrating World Water Day. This is an environment-consciousness effort of Levi’s to preserve our planet by conserving water. This is a global campaign promoting massive awareness wearing pants more and washing them less.

When it comes to the water used to make Levi’s WaterLess jeans - less is definitely more! The average pair of jeans uses 42 litres of water in the finishing process while Levi’s WaterLess products reduce the use of water in the finishing process by up to 96 percent for some styles.  Levi’s has already made more than 13 million WaterLess products and saved more than 172 million litres of water.

The 172 million litres of water that Levi’s WaterLess products have saved is equivalent to:

726,600,812, 8-ounce glasses of drinking water -- enough drinking water for 157,000 people for one year

In addition to Levi’s WaterLess jeans innovation, Levi’s has also partnered with Water.org to help raise awareness about vital water issues and bring clean drinking water to people around the world.  A billion people around the globe don’t have access to clean drinking water and Levi’s is proud to be doing something about it.  Beginning March 22 – World Water Day – Levi’s and Water.org are teaming up for the second consecutive year to launch a new interactive challenge called “Go WaterLess”.  The challenge encourages people to “Go WaterLess” by taking water saving steps to experience what life is like for the one billion people worldwide without clean drinking water.  Check it out at www.levi.com/waterless and help provide water to those without.

The company also launched the “Care Tag for Our Planet” campaign, changing the product care tags in Levi’s jeans to include instructions about ways consumers can reduce the environmental impact of their clothes by washing less, washing in cold water, line drying and donating when no longer needed.

Levi’s WaterLess products are available in Levi’s Stores Nationwide. For more info on the brand and the WaterLess campaign, visit the official Facebook page of Levi's HERE. Follow @LevisPhil as well  on Twitter and Tweet about the Levi’s WaterLess jeans with hash tag,  #Levis WaterLess Day

1 pair of jeans per hour will be given away @LevisPhil Twitter account on March 22, 2012.

Load Up On Guns, Bring Your Friends

Saturday, March 17, 2012

(Denim Jacket: Bim Bim Haus// Skirt: Pinkaholic Fashion Shoppe// Shirt: The Afterglow// Creeper Boots: Jeffrey Campbell// Body Harness: Superfluously// Silver Cuff: Ruckus)

I borrowed the title of this post from the opening line of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", which could very well be the grunge anthem of the 90s. This photo set is a continuation of the grunge series that Edric and I collaborated on and my outfit here is probably my favorite out of the three sets I prepared...partly due to the fact that I took the risk and wore this asymmetrical skirt sideways (see proper way of wearing this skirt here). Topped with a bleached denim jacket and platform creepers, I'm ready to slash it out in a music festival and run the streets with reckless abandon.

Edric, thank you for capturing the vulnerable side of me through these photos.

P.S. I'm currently in Davao for Araw ng Dabaw and will be in Barangay SIR Covered Court tomorrow for the Joy Kaon Ta, Davao event. If you guys are near the area, hope you can drop by! :)

Summer of Love

Friday, March 16, 2012

(Orange Blazer: F21// Top: Style Staple// Jeans: Zara// Eyewear: Karen Walker// Pumps: So Fab// Clutch: Gold Dot// Necklace: Ruckus// Cuff: SM Accessories)

I'm actually wearing a deep tangerine blazer here but the color came out a little bit on the crimson side in the photos. I used to despise the orange hue on any article of clothing before as I found it too loud and quite tacky. But recently, I've come to embrace it. It truly is a fun, summery color. Speaking of summer, how cute are these blue pumps for So! F.A.B.? I'm not usually attracted to pumps as pretty as these but the chunky towering heels got me. And with the addition of a rope material near the sole, these could very well be the perfect pair of pumps for summer. However, if you like some summer wedges or flats instead, So! F.A.B. has a lot of choices out in stores.

Be Body Beautiful At Any Age...

Now that I’m nearing the dreaded “30 Y.O.”, I’ve been going through a lot of introspections -- I keep on questioning and criticizing my choices and decisions and have been scrutinizing all of the physical changes unraveling before me. Every time I look at myself in the mirror, I keep on noticing the slight wrinkles and crow’s feet on my face, all of which were nonexistent before. I’ve also been noticing the emergence of sunspots and unwanted lumpiness left and right. Oh dear. I am getting old.

But all of these unwanted physical changes, no matter how they make me shudder, are all part of aging. And really, there is nothing wrong with aging -- we will all go through this at some point in our lives.

There are different measures we can take though to help us confront the aging process with grace. Some of these are: observing proper skin hygiene, eating healthy, well-balanced meals, getting adequate sleep, exercising and wearing appropriate undergarments. Yes folks, undergarments!

To be honest, I’ve never really cared for wearing proper undergarments. I’ve had these years-old underwired brassieres that I still use to give my teeny tiny twins a little lift. Haha! All this time, I thought I was doing fine in the undergarment department when I had a good dose of the wake up pill from a meeting I attended a few weeks ago with the intimate apparel brand, Wacoal.

In that meeting, I discovered (and realized) that as our bodies change as we grow older, so should our undergarments. Case in point:

 How Breasts Age

How Hips Age

How Stomach Ages

As we age, our breasts, stomach and hips (as well as other parts of our body) go through a lot of changes – they lose their elasticity and firmness and they tend to sag due to the natural pull of gravity. What this implies is that a bra designed for a woman in her 20’s may not necessarily fit a woman in her 40s, even if both women have the same cup size (hmm…so that’s why my bras fit a little weird).

Now, if all of this info on body changes is getting you a bit frazzled on which undergarments you should be purchasing and wearing, fret no more because Wacoal has got you covered. They’ve developed undergarment lines fitting the body specifications of different age groups to give each woman the perfect silhouette.

If you’re a woman in your 20s, Wacoal has a set of fun and flirty designs that can help emphasize the beautiful shape of your breasts, waists and hips:

For women in their 30s, there are brassieres with underwire, pads and side panels with reinforced fabric/bone to give you a refined shape:

For the lovely women in their 40s, Wacoal has bras with wider straps and side panels to support your breasts, shoulders and back:

Now let me show you what I got for myself:

I needed a new seamless panty badly and this nude one from Wacoal fits great and even has a butt support to frame my 'little behind'. I also got a nice t-shirt bra to replace my cheap, worn out and dimpled bras (haha!). Trust Wacoal to provide you with great fit and quality.

Now after all of this long 'talk', the fact that you have to keep in mind is this: choose the right underwear based on your age. But most importantly, love your body, whatever your age, size and shape is.

And with the help of Wacoal, you can be body beautiful at any age.
