Hello, everyone! Happy 2014! 

I'm leaving you with my 1st post for the new year, sporting a clean and minimalist ensemble and dark auburn hair. This year, I'm going to be partial to basic pieces, simple silhouettes and neutral hues. I'm still going to throw in some hints of color and boho-grunge elements every now and then but I'm definitely welcoming minimalism with arms wide open.

Le 'ol plaid button-down shirt has been subjected to various wrap around situations and permutations that I've already lost count of exactly how many they are. This time though, it's wrapping its sleeves on a tropical print tank from Neon Island and a resurrected pair of leather trousers...just because the weather permitted it (albeit the cool breeze was a bit fleeting). I think I need to maximize my wardrobe and make use of other long-sleeved tops as a wrap-around just so I won't bore myself (and you, my readers) with this overused plaid shirt. Deal? Okay.

CeLine Up The B*tches

I posted a photo of this cheeky designer slogan tee on my Instagram a few months ago and suffice to say, I was hell bent on finding the same shirt to wear on a sartorial occasion (which is technically everyday -- "because everyday is an opportunity to dress up" -- HAHA). Out of sheer luck, I saw Designerati's IG post on their new drops of quirky tees and saw this Celine shirt in the set. Bingo! I quickly messaged the shop owner and placed an order for the shirt and a few weeks after, I was already wrapping my arms on dear Celine. To celebrate this fortunate purchase, I decided to brandish it on the streets, paired with a minimalist asymmetric hem skirt from Sabrina and a mod-style jacket from young, up and coming local designer, Yves Camingue (who was also part of Project Runway Philippines Season 3). The result? A pretty fresh and simple ensemble, perfect for the indecisive weather we are currently experiencing here in the Philippines.

My Apologies

Here I go again, sporting my oversized biker vest from Zara. I guess I'm just taking advantage of the chilly breeze where I work before the summer heat finally arrives.  My apologies for the lack of updates here on the blog. As per usual, I'm held up by work. I'm not complaining though. A lot of exciting projects are pouring in and finally, I'll be able to relax beside the sea this coming weekend! Yes!

You've already probably seen this jacket worn by a couple of bloggers and now I understand why they all went for this piece -- it's sophistication and rock n' roll all rolled into one fantastic tweed concoction! I may have been a bit late in assimilating this trend but as the saying goes, "good things come to those who wait" because this jacket was on sale when I got it! Who doesn't love sales, right? I'm pretty sure that if you head to Mango right now, you might still be able to snap up this tweed jacket (it also comes in beige and gold, by the way) at probably a much lower price. :)

Perforations

I'm back to my signature all-black look.

This outfit is a casual play on textures - faux leather, perforations, metal and cotton. I've been on the hunt for a vintage-looking T-shirt for quite a while now and I was lucky to finally spot one a few weeks ago - in the form of this ACDC shirt from Zara. Pairing it with a (faux) leather skirt was inevitable as I have penchant for dressing up like a rocker groupie at times. I want to thank that certain friend for getting me this too-cool-for-school perforated skirt. You know me all too well. :)

I've decided to enlist myself in a military school...nah, just kidding (and I'm sure you didn't even buy the joke for one second. Hahaha!). There's nothing really special with this look. Wore this two weekends ago on a casual night out with friends in a local bar. I've been quite stressed with quite a lot of things as of late. I think I need to pluck myself out of all the chaos that's happening around me and retire into a place of comfort. La Union...I need you right now.

Juxtaposing feminine floral trousers with a masculine vest. I've mentioned in some post ago that every woman should have a pair of black pumps in their shoe closet. Pointed, round-toe, peep-toe, velvet, leather...whatever type of black pumps they are, you can never go wrong with them. Pumps work well with dresses, slim trousers, jeans, minis and shorts. My black velvet pumps are a recent find from So! F.A.B. and these are also available in red, in case you want to add a surge of vampy color to your look.

Celine

Finally, the long wait is over. 

I've had my eye on the Celine mini luggage for more than a year and I kept on having these mini self-debates on whether I should get it or not. Somehow, the hefty price tag attached to the bag kept pushing me back. But this year, after turning (dirty) thirty, I felt that it was the right time to satiate my craving and reward myself with something 'grander' than what I would normally indulge myself with. My philosophy when it comes to choosing 'designer' bags (gah, i hate using this term!) is simple: I don't like taking chances...hence I go with simple structures and safe (and sometimes boring) neutral colors such as dark blues, browns and black. I was originally planning on getting a navy blue mini luggage and was a strand of hair close to wrapping my hands around it but for some unexplainable reason though, a lot of complications came along with it. In the end, I had to settle with the black version instead. I'm not complaining though. Secretly, my heart was pining for black. While some of the other bubbly and Barbie mini luggage colors (such as citron, fluoro pink, red, cobalt blue and tri-colors) are really interesting, you can't go wrong with black. You can get more mileage out of it as it can go with any look -- whether it be stark or as colorful as the rainbow. And knowing that I've purchased something quite pricey, I have to milk it for all of its worth. So yes, black may be boring, especially for a mini luggage, but to me it's such a beauty.
