See-Through

Skirt: Choies / Jacket: Nastygal / Shoes: Alexander Wang / Earrings: H&M (courtesy of Honey Andrade) / Eyewear: Karen Walker / Clutch: SM Accessories

I can be very particular with the cut, fit, design and make when it comes to picking out skirts. I love it when a simple silhouette, such as an A-line or pencil skirt, is amplified with interesting details such as cut-outs, flaps, embroidery, clever pocket placements or even the use of different materials. The sweet lace pencil skirt I'm sporting here (you can also get this in black) is one good example of a simple skirt which plays on different textures -- lace and mesh/net. For someone who's not a fan of looking too saccharine, the mesh/net works wonders as it adds a tinge of edge and freshness to the whole skirt.

If you're feeling more romantic and feminine, here are other variations of the quintessential lace skirt which you can choose from (my faves are the Tibi and Sportmax Code skirts!):

Dress: Subcult / Shoes: Alexander Wang / I.D. Necklace: PlusMinusTimesDivide

This dress was part of the loot bag that I got from Subcult last week. I actually let out a loud shriek when I spotted the surfboard print on it. Not only does this dress carry one of my favorite graphic prints, it also had a Balenciaga & Christopher Kane touch to it which I adore. Allow me to impart a styling trick that I always apply to dresses when I want a more casual look: I tie a long belt around the waist and gather the top part of the dress to create a billowy, dropwaist silhoutte. I've done this trick a number of times already, as evidenced HERE and HERE. For this somber summer look, I went with minimal accessories and just wore a couple of bracelets and a statement I.D. necklace from PlusMinusTimesDivide.

Who says you can't go dark for summer?

Paradigm Shift

Vest: Paradigm Shift / Skirt: F21 / Top: Topshop / Bag & Boots: Alexander Wang / Eyewear: from BF Ruins

I love me a good long vest -- it's one of my go-to pieces, second to leather jackets, when I need to beef up an outfit. This vest from Paradigm Shift is one of the few "classics" inside my wardrobe compartment. I've already paired it with floral-print trousers  and Balenciaga-inspired shorts. Too bad it got tarnished (at the back) with undentified stain marks. :S

P.S. Paging, Paradigm Shift! I need a new leather vest stat! Haha!

Mirrored

Top: ASOS / Shoes: Alexander Wang / Bag & Necklace: SM Accessories / Eyewear: Glam Effect

It's the return of the comeback! Hahaha! Hello, abstract print top! I obviously love this top so much for it to merit an immediate second appearance on this blog (wore it for the first time HERE). This time though, I opted to pair it with shorts since summer's already here and it's just too hot to wear long sleeves with pants! Ugh. I want to direct your attention though to the mirrored sunglasses. Isn't it the coolest thang? Haha! The blue polarized lenses remind me of all things summer - beach, waves, sand and fun! Sigh. Can't wait to go back to the beach!

P.S. My face looks so white in these photos! Hahaha!

Biker

Vest: Zara / Top: H&M / Skirt: F21 / Bag & Shoes: Alexander Wang / Cross Bangle: Anagon

I finally got to wear the oversized biker vest that I got from Zara via my GCASH American Express Virtual Pay. This vest was everything I expected it to be. I really love how long it is. It would go perfectly well with short shorts and skirts. The only downside to this vest is that it's too thick, which means that I won't be able to wear it during summer. Drat.

P.S. The cool double cross bangle I'm wearing here is the lovely creation of Ana Gonzales. I swear, her hands are golden! Check out more of her wired creations HERE.

Hello, 2013!

Skirt: Romwe / Sweater: BU4 purchase (from Paul Jatayna) / Shoes & Bag: Alexander Wang / Necklaces: F21 / Bracelet: Saint Rebel Street Boutique

My first outfit post for 2013! Something cheery and festive!

Technically though, this was my last look for 2012. I wore this outfit for a simple year-ender/new-year-opener photo shoot with Anton last December 30. I wanted bright and luscious colors for my first outfit post for 2013 and this was what I came up with - a multicolored sequined skirt from Romwe and a punchy green sweater. What better way to welcome the new year than with sparkles, both on my skirt and on my...well...sparkler! Haha!

Again, Happy New Year to everyone! I'm so excited for 2013! Hope all of you are too!

The Best of 2012

Monday, December 31, 2012

Before we welcome the new year, I'd like to share with all of you a rundown of my favorite 2012 fashion moments. This year, my style sensibilities have definitely evolved into something more mature. I've learned to embrace things/trends/styles I swore years ago that I would never try (such as wearing stiletto sandals). I've also been more open to injecting a whole lot of prints and colors into my wardrobe (bright yellow, obviously, was a fave). I've also experimented with color on my hair when I sported ombre early this year. Looking back though, I kind of regret messing up with my hair, killing it with bleach and allowing it to look like a broomstick. Haha! Speaking of hair, this year has been privy to a dozen personal haircut changes. I started with long locks, had it cut shoulder-length, sported a boy's barber's cut and ended up with a pixie. While I do miss having a long mane, my favorite would have to be the pixie just because it's so easy to manage. I just had another haircut yesterday (a semi-pixie with semi-shaved sides) and I don't even know what's going to happen next to this fickle-minded hair of mine (Hahaha!).

Life and career-wise, 2012 had been a really interesting year for me. I made some mistakes here and there, visited new places and experienced new things, went through a quarter life crisis (sort of), received a handful of blessings and forged new friendships in the most unexpected places. I hope that in 2013 and in the years to come, I get to succeed in fulfilling my long-term goals.

Life, I hope, would be even greater.

To the brands who've supported and sponsored me this year, a big thank you to all of you! To my dear readers and friends, I wish each and everyone of you a fantastic new year ahead! May all of your wishes, goals and aspirations finally come true! Thank you so much for sticking with me!

Sweater: Romwe / Skirt: The Ramp / Bag & Shoes: Alexander Wang / Eyewear: Karen Walker / Earrings: F21

Hey, lovelies! How was your Christmas? My Christmas celebration experience was very simple and, well, typical -- we would always have our annual big family Christmas reunion (from my father's side) the whole day on Christmas Day. No matter how simple and typical our Christmas celebration is though, I always look forward to it because it's the only time I get to eat one of my favorite simple home-cooked dishes: nilagang tahong dipped in suka (steamed mussels dipped in vinegar), fresh from Cavite. I love it so much that I can devour a big bowlful of it in one sitting! I also love seeing my cousins, nephews and nieces having a great time as they enjoy the Christmas parlor games and receive their Christmas gifts. This simple and typical Christmas celebration (and family tradition) is something I truly cherish and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I hope all of you had a wonderful, love-filled Christmas celebration with your family/friends/significant others. Happy Holidays!
