Stole 'Em From The Boyfriend

Jeans & Heels: Zara / Blazer: Thrifted / Bag: Alexander Wang / Bracelet & Ring: Arm Party Manila / Earrings: Accessorize / Watch: Casio

From time to time, I like to dress like a man (but in a womanly way, of course). And to dial up the androgyny in a menswear-inspired look, I refer to oversized pieces of clothing (a.k.a. "boyfriend" anything). I've mentioned in a couple of posts ago that I'm rekindling my love for blazers -- in the large, boyfriend's type versions. And for me, the best place to find this type of garment without blowing up the wallet is the thrift store. I've unearthed a lot of unique diamonds-in-the-rough in my past visits to thrift stores... which reminds me, I haven't been to an ukay-ukay in a long time so I think I need to hit one up soon.

What cherished pieces have you dug up from thrift stores?

  1. Oh my word, don't even get me started on the gems I've found at thrift stores. I won't shut up. LOL. But yes, blazers are the best to thrift. This whole look is so cool. I love the blazer and slouchy tee and jeans. And the sunglasses make it look even better! <3

    1. Ooh! I'm curious as to what those thrifted items are! And yes, I'd rather buy oversized blazers from the thrift store than on highstreet fashion stores -- the prices are ridic!

  2. great look pretty :) where do you go thrift shopping? I'm also from the South and I haven't seen any decent ukay stores near my place. Maybe you can suggest one :)

    1. I used to shop in Star Mall, Philam and the ukay-ukay beside Caltex/Petron (can't remember the exact gas station) across Star Mall. :)

  4. wow! effortless execution! LOVE the contrast between the boyfriend pieces (blazer&pants) and those sexy strap heels from Zara. So sophisticate chic and cool at the same time!

    1. Thanks, Cza! Initially, I wanted to go with brogues vs. heels but that might be an overkill. Haha!

  5. Hi Ms. Kookie! I'm a total fangirl :)) It has been part of my weekly routine to check your page out ever since I discovered its existence! Your looks are hard to pull off but they are my constant source of inspiration. Anyway, I do love thrifting and if you're from the south (I know you are, I saw you at TAV and Burgery at separate times) you might want to check out the UK store right across SM southmall, I saw trousers from Jill Sanders and Roberto Cavalli at 50 pesos each (they're on sale that time). I also got 200 peso blazers from Zara, Topshop and HM.:)

    1. Oh thanks, Tessa! I appreciate the love. It's amazing what you can find in thrift stores. And seriously, I'm okay with having 90% thrifted items in my closet. It's all about finding the right pieces and styling them well. :)

  8. I miss going to the ukay-ukay also. But usually it really depends on the mood. Ukay is not an easy place to shop, the clothes are crowded, the place is scorching, and the smell is not that good. So your body and mind should be ready for it. And I really agree that that's the best place to find a biggie blazer / boyfriend's blazer. I have a lot! :)
